EHPM Event On the Future of Monacolin K

Agenda of the Event

Monacolin K, a red yeast rice component, is currently being evaluated at the European level under Art. 8 of Reg. 1925/2006.

Although a final decision has not yet been taken, the European Commission intends to implement the following steps:

  1.  Ban monacolin K in food supplementsdosages equal to and higher than 3 mg.
  2.  Scrutinize the amount of monacolin K in food supplements for dosages lower than 3 mg.

Together with its members, EHPM has been highly active in involving both the industry and the European and National Institutions to defend the safety of this ingredient.

Within this context, EHPM will host a workshop to address the following questions:

•   What is the current status of the monacolin K dossier at the EU level?

•   What are available options for companies?

•   What kind of data needs to be provided during the scrutiny?

•   What are next steps?
